DIY

I don't know about y'all, but I love DIY projects! Pinterest has millions of ideas to choose from which has kept me busy for the past couple of weeks. I decided to actually start making what I pin because pinning it doesn't make it magically appear in your house. I wish I would have been told of that before I got Pinterest!

Anyways, enough talkie and more showy.

What got me started was my ripped jeans. Yes, I am that person who will buy brand new jeans ripped. Please don't judge. One of the rips started getting a little big which showed a little too much leg for me. I saw the idea once for putting lace in ripped jeans so I searched it up on Pinterest and this is what I found.

And this is how it turned out.

I really love how it looks and how it turned out. The lace I used is very fragile so it rips easy. There is probably thicker lace out there that wouldn't rip. A thing I would suggest is if you put lace in the knees, you need to make it loose. The first time around I did it, I put the lace too tight in the knee which then I couldn't bend my knee. Other than that, I am super happy with them!

The next thing I did is more of a craft I guess, but it was on Pinterest.

Burnt matchstick cross tutorial

And this is mine.

Just so I don't get all the credit, my mom did find this idea on Pinterest and said I should make it. It, too me, looks super cool. It has that country feel to it which I love. This project is pretty simple and easy to do. The thing is once you are done, you have a bunch of empty match-boxes to throw away. Before you chuck them, think again...

 :

Isn't so stinkin' cute?!

Here is mine.

I should do all the fancy stuff on top, but I feel like that would take a lot of work. I am a little disappointed with this project. The drawers won't open, I don't know if they are suppose to or not, but I would have liked them to. Also, I didn't understand what the candle was all about so I just ignored it. My mom told me after the fact that I was suppose to wax the places I was going to sand off. Next time I guess. I do love how cute it is though. I used beads for the legs. I made sure they were all the same size, painted them brown, and glued them on. There are SO many match-box crafts to do out there and they are all super cute!

The last project is probably my favorite because it saved me a lot of money. I couldn't find anything on Pinterest that showed you how to really do this craft so I had to go to YouTube which had exactly what I needed.

And mine.

This jacket is a new fashion that is out there in stores. The price ranges from 60-100 dollars to buy one. Crazy right? I always wanted to buy one, but the price always told me I better not. So I made one! I had a old jean jacket in my closet that had paint on the sleeve so I never wore it. Plus, I could cut off the sleeves without being sad about ruining my coat. I went to the thrift shop and found a hoodie for 4 bucks and I started making making my jacket. It is so easy to make! I think it took me about 2-3 hours to finish. I love it and it only cost me 35 dollars! If my jean jacket was from the thrift store it would have been way cheaper. I used a sewing machine instead of hand stitching it. Just make sure your fabric stays flat so that it doesn't bunch up. I made the mistake of not paying enough attention to that and my sleeve was sewed all bunched up. It was a easy fix though. Other than that, I love it so much!

That is my Pinterest adventures. Thank y'all for letting me share with you!
God bless,
Rebekah

Through Him

Howdy y'all! Is anyone getting sick of winter yet? I know it isn't Spring just yet, but this snow and cold is too much for me.
Our church has had the privilege of having an intern pastor for the last seven months. At first it wasn't a privilege at all because we had two pastors leave who we all love and respected. Then this pastor came to fill in and he has been a blessing. I have always looked forward to Sundays and with him here I look forward even more. The sermons always just leave you in awe of God and humble yourself spirit real quick. Last Sunday the sermon seemed all too short because it was filled with so much. I hope I can share it without ruining the whole thing.

10 I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. 11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:10-13

Paul starts off this little section by him saying "I rejoiced in the Lord...". Just six verses before this he told the Philippians to rejoice, "Rejoice in the Lord always, again I will say rejoice.". He isn't just a preacher, he lives what he preaches. He puts it into practice. Rejoicing in God changes your attitude towards others. You become caring and loving just as the Philippians did towards Paul, "You were indeed concerned for me...". He is seeing their change. He is rejoicing that there is a mutual love in him and them. That is what he has been working for.

In verses 11 and 12, it sounds like Paul is talking about money, but he isn't. He is talking about them caring for him personally. Paul has lived through quite a bit in his lifetime. He knows how to get along. What he is talking about here is the joy of having someone care for him. Paul knows how to survive, but what he wants is for someone to be concerned for him. God produces this concern in us for people. God makes us see we aren't the only ones in this world. People need to feel cared for. Humans need love. Our hearts need to be open to others. We need to see when others are having a bad day and give them encouragement.

Verse 13 sums up this section. Paul is not saying God gives you power to do things. God isn't the spinach Popeye eats. Paul is saying he can suffer through anything through Christ who strengthens him. He can be content in any situations he is thrown into because he has God. He doesn't need money because he has God. We need to be content like Paul. We have what we need, but we don't have what we want most of the time. Your wants won't help you live any better, God will though.
That is why he rejoices in God!

I hope that made sense and that I didn't mess it all up. I get so excited talking about what I learn on Sundays it becomes all mumble jumbled.

God bless you all!

God Always Works

Hey y'all! I hope everything is well. I am so happy I am back at blogging, hopefully I can keep up with it.

Our pastor spoke on these two verses a couple of Sundays ago and it was quite amazing all you can get out of them.

This is a letter, well this is just a little paragraph from the letter, from Paul to the church in Philippi.

12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
Philippians 2:12-13

Verse 12 talks about how we need to work out what God has given us. It isn't saying we need to work for salvation, lets get that straight right away. God graciously gives us the gift of salvation through Jesus, we don't need to do anything to earn it. When someone gives you a birthday or Christmas gift it isn't because you earned it, it is because they love you. Anyways, moving on...
How do we "work out" our salvation? We have to live Christ filled lives that shine His glory. Sin kind of hinders us from doing that though. Humans are really weak. We can't do much on our own. That is why there is verse 13.

WE DON'T DO IT ON OUR OWN! God works through us! After salvation there is sanctification. Sanctification is God changing us to be more like Jesus. It doesn't happen in an instant, if it did Christians would be perfect and wouldn't need Jesus. No, we need Jesus because we are weak, sinful humans. We can't do it, but God can. God can make us love that unlovable person, God can make the right answer come out of your mouth in a disagreement, God can make us say no to something that we shouldn't do. If we go on our own will everything will be a mess. That is why we work out what God works in us. God doesn't do everything for you though. You can't just lay in bed and wait for God to do something. You need to get up and put effort in so He has something to work with.

He says to work it out with "fear and trembling". One day we will all bow down at the feet of Jesus. We will confess He is Lord. What are we to even have Him as King? We are NOTHING compared to Him. Thanks be to Him who died for our sin so that we can stand before Him spotless.

Finally, God takes pleasure in us doing good. God actually takes pleasure in us?! It is God's joy, happiness, delight, amusement when we are more like Jesus. That should make us strive to be more like Jesus when we know that it makes God smile.

Verse 12 can't be wihtout verse 13 and verse 13 can't be without verse 12.

I hope that was somewhat clear. As our old pastor always said, "Was that clear as mud?"

God bless y'all,
Rebekah

Nashville

Say what she is still alive?! Yeah I am! I didn't purposely take a break, I just kind of forgot about it...

My summer was GREAT! It all started with a trip to Nashville with my grandma. My grandma started this thing when one of her grandchildren turn 16 they get a trip to any location of their choice. I know I could have gone to somewhere cool like Italy or Australia, but I chose Nashville for a reason. It was CMA Fest when we went. CMA Fest is a country music festival that just involves all the concerts you can imagine, and 80% of them are FREE!!! Two words every music lover hears, free concerts. I think we got to see about 40 different acts and I got to meet quite a few of them.

Our first stop though was New Orleans. My grandma and myself wanted to check out the place so we took a little road.

My favourite part of the whole New Orleans trip was the buildings. All of them were so beautiful!

Our first day in Nashville was quite crazy. We went to the CMT Award Show! It was my first award show so I was SO excited. But before any awards, there is a red carpet. We waited out in the sun and heat for 8 hours just to see these stars for like 1 minute. It may sound not fun, but I think it was so worth it. That is Old Dominion.

The awesome thing about getting to the red carpet early is that you get to be near the front. That is how far away I was from the one and only LUKE BRYAN!

Maren Morris, Keith Urban, and Brett Eldredge kicked off the show with Keith's song Wasted Time

I got to meet our very own Albertan country singer Brett Kissel. He was my favourite people to meet because he talked to everyone like they were the only people there. I think our conversation was a good 8 minutes.

One of my favourite free shows was Eric Paslay's. He was just so good live and I just couldn't stop dancing and singing.

High Valley

On Sunday morning we saw David Crowder

I got to meet Maddie & Tae. Tae made my day by gushing over my nails. I never felt so cool as right then.

Sunday night was one of the best nights EVER! I got to go see the big show which involved Thomas Rhett, Brett Eldredge, Little Big Town, Keith Urban, and Luke Bryan. I walked into Nissan Stadium, which is where it was, and got all teary eyed because it was going to be a one of a kind night.

My awesome grandma sat outside with everyone's purses because you weren't aloud to bring your purse inside the stadium. She sat out there for 5 hours! She is too awesome!!!

So that my Nashville trip and just the beginning of my summer. I started writing this post with the intention of talking about my whole summer... oh well another time.

I hope y'all doing great and that you are all getting in the mood for Christmas!

God bless,
Rebekah

God Keeps His Promises

Happy Sunday to you all! I hope that you are all doing great.
The other night I was reading the book of Joshua and the chapters were quite boring. Yes, the Bible shouldn't be boring, but it was all these names and God gave all these people different lands and stuff and I just found it hard to read. That is when I read the last verse of chapter 21.
"Not one word of all the good promises that the Lord had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass."
Joshua 21:45
God promised the tribes of Israel that they would get those lands, cities, and stuff. He kept His promises to them. God always keeps His promises. We don't do so good at that. People have a hard time living up to what they say and most of the time it disappoints others. God on the other hand will never fail us. He says something and we know He will do it. Here are some verses with God's promises to us.
Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying: “And as for Me, behold, I establish My covenant with you and with your descendants[b] after you, 10 and with every living creature that is with you: the birds, the cattle, and every beast of the earth with you, of all that go out of the ark, every beast of the earth. 11 Thus I establish My covenant with you: Never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood; never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.”
12 And God said: “This is the sign of the covenant which I make between Me and you, and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: 13 I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.
Genesis 9:8-13
There was a flood that killed everything on the earth except for Noah, his family, and the animals they got on the ark. The whole world was covered in water. After all the water went away God promised to NEVER flood the earth again and He has kept that promise. He used a rainbow to remind us of it. Yes, the rainbow is a promise from God and not what people say it is today, but that is a topic for another day.
Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.
Deuteronomy 31:6
I find this one really comforting. Because sometimes, I just feel alone. There are times you feel like no one cares about you. Then there is God. Always there for you. There is someone who always cares what you are going thru. Just another amazing promise.

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19
He promises to always give you what you need. Not what you want, even though He blesses us that way too, but what you truly need to live. Food, clothes, shelter. You never have to worry about it. That doesn't mean that you just sit around and wait for it though. God needs to work through you and others.
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9
He promises us eternal life if we just ask for forgiveness and believe in Jesus. He promises that we will not die if we have Jesus as our Savoir. Our body here on earth will be gone, but then we are alive in Heaven. The best promise of them all don't you think?
There are many more, but that would be a long blog post.
God bless you all,
Rebekah

Gods Not Dead 2

Hello all of you. Long time, no talk. I guess that is what happens when you waste your time with other websites other than your own blog.
Last night my awesome friends took me along with them to Gods Not Dead 2. First of all I suggest, please go see it! I didn't like the first one that much, but this one was great. Second of all, I suggest you go with a friend who is addicted to Starbucks. Because then you tell them you will only go there if they buy you something. Thank you again, Marcella, for the drink.
Anyways, the movie totally motivated me to live for Jesus and not to be ashamed of Him or afraid.
Stand with God God's Not Dead 2:

The world, non believers, can make fun of us. They can say mean things. They might even tell us not to talk about Jesus. Is that what the Bible tells us though?

galatians 1:10:

Who cares what they say or do. We all have rights. The world says things we don't like and we say they don't like. Us Christians need to live for God though no matter the circumstances. He died publicly, painfully, and shamefully for you so you better have something to give back to Him. And He tells us what He wants us to do. Live for Him. Not in private, but in public. Jesus died to give you life, don't you just want to share that life with others? Share that great news. Some countries you get killed because you believe in Jesus. The people that do get killed are amazing to me because they could have lied and said, 'No, I am not a Christian.' But no, they say yes they are. That also shows you the hate for Christians, but we shouldn't be the only ones without freedom. God made us free to choose what we believe and what we do. The world doesn't think that way though.
There is one for verse that I would like to share with you.
11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Matthew 5:11-12
Because you stand up for Him, He will reward you. That is just amazing. This little bit of good we do on earth is nothing compared to the whole lot of bad we do on it also. God still will reward you for living for Him.
Here is the song by Newboys they played in the movie that fits perfect with this.

 Okay, this is so true!:

Thought I would just throw this last picture in to close because, it is true! Makes me mad that people can talk about anyone except the one true King.
I hope I didn't get to pushy. Just make sure if you are a Christian, people know it. Because that in itself is a great impact.
God bless you all and go see Gods Not Dead 2 if it is still in a theatre near you,
Rebekah

Sweet 16

Hello to all of my dear followers and readers. How have you all been? I hope the weather at your places has been as nice as ours!
This is super late but hey, am I not know for late blog post or what!? Friday, the 25th of March, I turned 16.

You can't really see my cake, but it is an ice cream one with chocolate swirls on top.
Also you might see that browning deer head on a circle. Well that is a dart board from my brother Jacob. It is from the garbage dump, but it is in awesome condition!

Because I turned 16 my lovely parents let me wear make-up now. So my mom took me to Shopper's Drug Mart for a free make over. The lady did a great job and made it super fun for me. Afterwards, we went to Subway for lunch and then to DQ to get my cake.

On our way to Shopper's we had to drive past my friend's house because she said I had to. We didn't have to stop, but this drive past. So, we did.
Unless if you have great eye sight you probably won't see what it says. What is does say is, 'Happy 16th birthday Becky'.

Then once we got home I got to finally open up my presents.

My parents got me 16 gifts which was pretty cool. I can't name all of what I got, but some of the things were a rodeo finale ticket for our stampede, an adult coloring book, American money for my Nashville trip, Harry Connick Jr.'s new CD, and other little things. My brother, Ben, got me the new Tim Neufeld CD which I thought I would never get because I could never find it. Jacob got me the dart board as you already know and also Chicago Mix popcorn. If you have never had that stuff, I recommend you go to the store right now, find it, buy it, and then eat the whole bag in two seconds. It really is that good. My friends that put up the sign for me got me a gift that was really creative. It was a picnic basket with a cute shirt, a blanket, a coloring book with pencil crayons, and food, of course, in it. What they wanted me to do with it is to go on a date, but the thing is that I am not going on a date anytime time soon. It was still a pretty cool gift. The last gift I got that I think is the coolest gift EVER is from my friend in Ontario. I seriously never in my life thought I would ever get Hunter Hayes as a gift. Well, I did!
This is blurry so you don't get the whole effect! Anyways, she drew this though and it is amazing! Right when I saw it I said, "This is the picture is from the Grammys." And I was right.

I will seriously treasure the picture the rest of my life. I still need to find a frame for it though.
It was a great birthday! I was spoiled like crazy.
I hope you all have a wonderful day and thank you for reading.
God bless,
Rebekah
